Last offseason, when the Packers fired the maligned Dom Capers, Fangio was one of the candidates whom Green Bay most coveted. Once Mike McCarthy got his walking papers and the Bears defense dominated the Rams on national television, connecting the dots was easy. It’s just not the right move for the Packers. Of course, it hasn’t just been one game that makes Fangio an appealing option. He built a dominating 49ers defense during their mini-run with Jim Harbaugh Aaron Jones Jersey , one that stymied Aaron Rodgers more than once. His work with sub-par talent early in his Chicago tenure deserves its own plaudits, but even with Khalil Mack, Fangio should be lauded for his work turning the Bears into a suffocating defense in an era where such things were thought to be impossible. Fangio is one of the NFL’s true mad scientists, happiest tinkering in the lab with ways to stop opposing offenses. He’s a little gruff, but not particularly outspoken and while he provides outstanding defensive coaching and scheme, there’s little evidence to suggest he’s the kind of alpha personality to come in and immediately demand the respect of a veteran football team set on winning a Super Bowl ASAMFP. Some have suggested the Packers need the new coach to inject accountability and discipline into the team, hold Aaron Rodgers to a higher standard and put his damn foot down. That’s not true. Mike McCarthy was an outstanding culture-setting coach and CEO of the Packers program. His voice simply ran its course. Fangio would likely represent a step back in terms of setting a Lombardi standard (as one former coach might put it). What the Packers need is a forward thinking coach with progressive ideologies about coaching, scheme Kenny Clark Color Rush Jersey , and personnel deployment. The calculation should be simple: the defense doesn’t have a coaching problem, it has a talent problem. The offense doesn’t have a talent problem, it has a coaching problem. So how does Fangio solve this exactly? If the answer to offensive stagnation is a hot young OC candidate, then just hire the offensive coach to begin with. More than likely the Zac Taylors of the world, even if successful, would be on their way to head coaching jobs in two years and then the team has to start over as Rodgers’ powers wain. What problem does Fangio solve that can’t be solved by Mike Pettine, another year of continuity, and some improved talent? The 49ers had Patrick Willis https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Mason-Crosby-Jersey , Justin Smith, Aldon Smith and a deep group of role players. The Bears have Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, Kyle Fuller and Eddie Jackson. That’s not underselling what Fangio has done, simply pointing out he’s been successful with more raw talent than the Packers currently have. A 60-year-old coordinator who hasn’t been an NFL head coach and doesn’t seem ideally suited from a personality standpoint to be one isn’t the answer to the Packers falling behind other top offenses with Aaron Rodgers. Fangio is closer to Social Security than a Super Bowl, making him a wonky fit on a team in need of an offensive overhaul. Pete Carroll is the oldest head coach in football and doesn’t suffer from a lack of foresight, but he was also a successful veteran coach with impossible reservoirs of energy when he got to Seattle. Replacing an old school coach with an old school coach to fix complacency in an old school way of doing business simply doesn’t follow. The culture isn’t broken in Green Bay, and even if it were Kyler Fackrell Jersey , there’s little evidence to suggest Fangio could piece it back together. The whole defense, to a man, lauded Pettine for bringing accountability back in a post-Capers world. Is Fangio’s schematic advantage over Pettine so large that Mark Murphy and Gutekunst ought to eschew better offensive coaching options in the head spot? No way.Fangio’s defense should worry the Packers on Sunday when the team attempts to save its season and keep playoff hopes alive. But that’s not reason enough to hire him as the man to succeed Mike McCarthy.

The interview will be towards the bottom of the page as we talk about his impressive set of pass rush moves, what makes a great pass rusher, and what it would be like to play with Darius Leonard.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="VxwOgC">BackgroundSize:6’4” 255 poundsMeasurables: 40 Time: 4.66 / 10-yard split: 1.61 / Vertical Jump: 36 inches / Broad Jump: 122 inches / 3-Cone: 6.89 secondsCareer Stats:162 total tackles, 41 tackles for a loss, 20 sacks, 4 pass deflections, and 8 forced fumblesFit with the Colts:GM Chris Ballard has mentioned multiple times this offseason that the Colts need pass rushers. Rookies Kemoko Turay and Tyquan Lewis were solid in their rookie seasons but the team needs more talented rushers to upgrade the defensive line. If the Colts make a big splash in free agency Malik Hooker Jersey , adding Crosby in the mid-rounds would also be a wise investment. Crosby has excellent tape where he shows a vast array of pass rush moves. Combine that with a near elite combine and he is a high upside pass rusher who has a ton of room to grow. As a sub-rushing defensive end, he would thrive in the Colts’ scheme.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="WTtvms">Film RoomThe number one thing we talk about as evaluators is bend in pass rushers. Crosby has some pretty incredible bend in his game.He is also quick enough to run around tackles while also being strong enough to fight through blockers en route to the QB.Long arms with power behind his punch. Crosby is a sack artist going into this draft.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="HAG7dM">InterviewZH: So how does a legit NFL prospect like you end up at a small school like Eastern Michigan?MC: So out of high school, I only had one division one offer and one offer in total. Coming out of high school, my first three years I was playing middle linebacker and I hit a big growth spurt going into my Senior year. So we got a brand new coaching staff and obviously I wasn’t going to play middle linebacker anymore so my coach moved me to D-End and wanted me to play a little bit of tight end and the rest of history.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="TSzoRy">ZH: Explain to me what the SAS points were with your defensive line coach at EMU. I’ve read a little bit about it and it sounds like a pretty cool tradition.MC: Oh I can’t tell you. That stays in the defensive line room. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="UFblCM">ZH: (Laughs) Fair enough. Can you at least describe to me the award that was given out each week by your defensive line coach?MC: Yeah it was this little grim reaper, little like figure, and he was put in front of the room and it went to the player who played the nastiest that week and we would all grade it as the dline as we went over the film and everyone would get points after every play, either a half a point or a full point. Whoever ended up with the most points at the end of each game would get the little statue for the whole week. It was awesome.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="l4xjNf">ZH: After posting 18.5 sacks the last two seasons for EMU, you declared for the draft. What went into that decision to declare early?MC: It wasn’t an easy decision. I had a lot of hard talks and really good talks with my family and coaches and really had to figure out what was best for me. At the end of the day, it wasn’t easy but I felt as if I was ready to take the next step and that is why I ended up declaring.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="KEFFLX">ZH: You really turned some heads at the combine with your athleticism. How was the whole combine experience for you?MC: It was awesome. It was four and a half days of just constant medicals and all types of interviews and just getting the exposure that I’ve always wanted and it was a really good experience. I loved it but it wasn’t easy at all Quincy Wilson Color Rush Jersey , it was late nights and early mornings but you are only there for four and a half days so you just gotta soak it up and do everything you can to make the best impression. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="MKOrlQ">ZH: Going to your tape, your hand usage is pretty great. You have a wide array of moves. Is that something you constantly work on or just an area you’ve been good in your whole life?MC: No, so in high school, my senior year was my first year playing dline so you know playing middle linebacker you aren’t really using hands like that. It was something that I was already behind in that aspect and just trying to figure out the position. I’ve just been working super hard in the offseason, putting in all the extra work I needed to get to the level where I thought I could reach and yeah I’ve just been working super hard to get here. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="ph9SJ1">ZH: What is your go-to pass rush move while we are on the topic?MC: I would probably say my double sweep and rip. Yeah that’s my go-to but there is a few others but that is definitely the number one that comes to my head.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="zGPwc0">ZH: What is the key in your mind to being a great pass rusher? Like what has made you so dominant these past two seasons?MC: Yeah there’s a lot of things that go into it. Play recognition, hand usage, effort, finishing plays— you can get around the QB a bunch and not finish and you’ll never get the recognition even though you are beating tackles. You know its completing the pass rush, finishing off the QB and all that is a huge part of getting the numbers and all that type of stuff. Just being relentless and always having constant effort and being around the ball is super important when getting the sacks.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="Ci5As6">ZH: What area of your game do you think you need to improve most?MC: My technique definitely needs some tightening up. My footwork in the run game. In college I got a lot of freedom and I kind of got carried away at times trying to do to much and make too many plays. Just tightening up my technique though is the main thing that comes to my mind. I just gotta keep getting stronger Skai Moore Color Rush Jersey , keep working on that and doing everything I can to be the best DE/ OLB I can be.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="67AmkC">ZH: Who in the NFL do you compare yourself to most/ model your game after?MC: I wouldn’t say there is one specific guy that I try to like be like or anything. I watch a ton of film on NFL guys and the one guy I’d say— from a young age I’ve always been a huge fan of and tried to emulate some of the things he did— is JJ Watt. I love JJ Watt. I also like Chandler Jones and Joey Bosa a ton too. Watching those guys’ film and seeing how consistently they get to the quarterback and cause disruption in the backfield is definitely helpful in watching their film.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="0Kv6nT">ZH: Which NFL quarterback do you want to sack most once you get into the league?MC: (Laughs) So I’ve been asked that question and everybody says Tom Brady and that is what I initially answered but now.... I’d definitely say Brady is one of them but I think Patrick Mahomes would be another guy I want to get after just because he’s so talented and such a special quarterback. I would love to try take him to the ground as well. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="IBRzLX">ZH: Last question for you. The Colts have preached the need for pass rushers all offseason. They have talented young players like Darius Leonard and Malik Hooker but need more of a pass rush. Do you think that you could step in and fill that need for them on that defense?MC: Absolutely. I hope they dig deeper in the film and recognize what I can do and bring to the table. I would love to get a chance to come to a team who obviously needs pass rushers and I think I’m a guy who a lot of people overlook and I could really come in there and make a difference right off the bat.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="0lhjDH">ZH: How fun would it be to play with two players like Darius Leonard and Malik Hooker?MC: That would be awesome. Obviously Darius Leonard came from an FCS school and you see him having great success. Some people.. Actually I saw this article when I was browsing the internet, that somebody said after they drafted him that it was like the worst pick in the draft and he ended up being an absolute animal. I keep that in the back of my head just going through this process, all the noise and outside stuff that people say you just gotta take with a grain of salt and remember why you are here. For me, it would be amazing to play with Malik Hooker, Margus Hunt, all those guys and go out there and show what I can do.
RENTON http://www.theseahawksfanshop.com/Marquise-Blair-Jersey , Wash. (AP)The Seattle Seahawks are retaining one of their key defensive backs by signing safety Bradley McDougald to a three-year contract.Bringing back McDougald was important for the Seahawks after he showed his value last season with his ability to fill in at both strong safety and free safety. McDougald was able to fill in for Earl Thomas when he was injured and took over for Kam Chancellor after he was lost for the season to a neck injury.McDougald was set to become a free agent after playing last season on a one-year deal. NFL.com reported McDougald’s new deal is worth up to nearly $14 million. McDougald finished the 2017 season with 67 tackles and four passes defensed.Seattle also released defensive back DeShawn Shead, making him an unrestricted free agent. Seattle wants to bring Shead back.He spent most of last season on the physically unable to perform list due to a knee injury and Seattle could have brought him back under the terms of that contract. But now that Shead is healthy, the Seahawks afforded him the chance to see his value on the open market.— RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin says he’s ready to return to the lineup this week against the Arizona Cardinals.Baldwin has missed the past two games for Seattle after injuring the MCL in his right knee in the team’s season opener against the Denver Broncos.Baldwin returned to the practice field on Wednesday for the first time since defensive tackle Domata Peko rolled up on the back of his leg in Denver.“I know Pete has a press conference coming up eventually (on Friday) so you’ll have to ask him. … I’m ready to go,” Baldwin said on Thursday.“That’s going to be their call. There’s a lot of things that go into it, obviously L.J. Collier Jersey , the precautionary reasons of making sure that I’m healthy fully so that I can go for the rest of the season and not just this game.”Said Carroll on Wednesday: “He looks really good and light on his feet. He looks very confident that he can have a chance to play this week, so we’ll see how that goes. He’s confident, that’s not a surprise. Let’s see if he can pull it off.”Baldwin hadn’t missed a game for Seattle since the 2012 season. He had appeared in 89 straight regular-season games and 12 postseason games since the previous time he was sidelined for an injury. The two games he missed that season were the only absences he’s had in his first seven years in the NFL.“Still a little frustrating because I feel like I’m still being held back a little bit,” Baldwin said. “I understand why and the precautionary reasons, but I’m chomping at the bit. I’m ready to go. This is what I do, so I’m excited about getting back out there.”Baldwin hasn’t enjoyed being forced to watch practice and games from the sideline. He got just two days of practice in with the team at the start of training camp before being shut down for nearly a month because of an issue with his left knee. He didn’t appear in any of the team’s four preseason games before ramping back up for the start of the season. He played just 11 snaps in Denver before injuring his right knee Gary Jennings Jr. Jersey , most coming before the injury while a couple came as he tried to see if he could play through it.“I wanted to do everything I could to go back in and I did that and realized it wasn’t getting better,” Baldwin said.Baldwin has been limited in both practices he’s participated in on Wednesday and Thursday.Carroll said they will need to see how Baldwin can handle a workload with essentially two troublesome knees.“We need to find out,” he said. “We need to find out how it goes. Doug’s (Baldwin) a guy that we communicate with very directly over a long period of time. We’ll work our way through it and we’ll just assess how he’s doing and how it’s going.”Notes: Safety Earl Thomas did practice on Thursday — as he did a week ago — despite missing practice for non-injury reasons on Wednesday. Thomas has said he doesn’t intend to practice if he feels even the slightest bit diminished as he tries to look out for his health absent a contract extension from the team. … LG Ethan Pocic (ankle), RB C.J. to sign the franchise tender O. J. Simpson Jersey , one option could be a trade. But there are conflicting reports about whether the Bills could be a trading partner. After Jay Glazer reported that the Bills have interest, longtime Buffalo reporter Vic Carucci reported that the Bills are not interested in acquiring Clark, whether by trade or free agent signing.Franchised players can sign an offer sheet with any other team, but there’s no way any team will sign Clark because that would require giving the Seahawks two first-round draft picks. But franchised players can also be traded for less than that, if both teams agree on the terms and the player agrees to a contract. That’s what happened last year when Jarvis Landry went from Miami to Cleveland. If Clark doesn’t sign a long-term deal before July 15, his options would be either to play the 2019 season for a one-year salary of $17.128 million, or sit out. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Trent Murphy feels particularly sympathetic toward the Buffalo Bills‘ training staff. The defensive end can’t imagine how difficult it must have been on them to keep him from rushing onto the field the past six months while Murphy recuperated from a knee injury he sustained a year ago, and a strained groin he developed during training camp.“We’ve had a lot of guys with reins on me,” Murphy said Thursday. With a wink Womens Jerry Hughes Jersey , he added: “I think if you ask them, they said they wanted a raise.”The Bills will gladly pay up if it means the offseason free-agent addition who was signed to improve the team’s pass rush is finally in a position to play in Buffalo’s season opener at Baltimore on Sunday. It’s not easy holding back Murphy. He is so dedicated to working out, he built a gym in his home, and spent three months last winter rehabbing at the invitation-only Westside Barbell gym in Columbus, Ohio, where Murphy pulled sleds and squatted 475 pounds. The 27-year-old has been eagerly awaiting an opportunity to restart a career that was derailed abruptly some 13 months ago after he began showing signs of promise in Washington.A year after posting a career-best nine sacks, Murphy’s future was sidetracked last summer when he tore two ligaments in Washington’s preseason opener. The injury led to Murphy missing his entire fourth NFL season, and led to the uncertainty of what offers the former second-round draft pick out of Stanford might attract in free agency.Once Buffalo showed immediate interest, Murphy braved driving through a snowstorm in the middle of the night from Columbus, to arrive at the Bills’ headquarters to sign a three-year http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-eddie-yarbrough-jersey , $21 million contract. After sitting out most of Buffalo’s spring sessions, the 27-year-old developed a minor setback during training camp when a nagging groin injury forced Murphy to miss all four preseason games.Murphy said he feels fine after completing his third straight practice, and he’s not listed on the Bills’ initial injury reports this week.“Super excited to get back to football and help the team,” Murphy said.“You never want to sit on the sideline, especially after waiting as long as I had to wait,” he added. “I always knew, you put in the hard work and you’ll be rewarded for it in the end. I just keep faith in that mantra.”The Bills are counting on Murphy to improve a pass rush that finished tied for 29th last season with just 27 sacks, and six of them coming in a 9-3 loss at Carolina in Week 2.Murphy entered training camp projected to fill the starting spot on the left side opposite Jerry Hughes. He’s now expected to play a backup role behind Shaq Lawson , Buffalo’s 2016 first-round draft pick.Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is encouraged by Murphy’s return to practice, but intends to take a cautious approach when it comes to playing time and not risk him aggravating the groin injury.“I know he’s been champing at the bit Ramon Humber Jersey ,” Frazier said. “You can imagine how he feels signing a free-agent contract, looking forward to coming to training camp … and then all of a sudden having some nagging injuries that he’s had. There was disappointment, but he’s healthy and looking good in practice.”Murphy has plenty to motivate him, including questions of whether he can match the production he enjoyed in 2016. He combined for just six sacks in 31 games during his first two seasons in Washington.“I’m the type of player who always has a chip on my shoulder,” he said.“After 2016, people were saying, ‘Oh, that could’ve been a fluke,'” Murphy added. “I couldn’t be more excited to prove to everyone here that I’m who they think I am.”
he hasn’t read or heard the criticism of his team’s offseason moves and Mara didn’t try to act as if that hasn’t been a popular response on Tuesday.Mara told Bob Glauber of that “nobody likes to hear that stuff Color Rush Christopher Slayton Jersey ,” but added that criticism in May doesn’t mean much for how the team will perform come the regular season. As you might have guessed, he also doesn’t agree with the view that the team is moving down the wrong track.“Absolutely, I think we’re moving in the right direction,” Mara said. “I certainly don’t think we’re a finished product yet, but I am happy with the direction of the team, contrary to popular opinion.”Mara said “time will tell” if he’s right about the team being on the path to success. He’s right about that, but one playoff trip in seven seasons makes the need for early signs that’s the case feel a bit more urgent than they might under other circumstances. But, he's likely to play, barring a setback."I'm just going to keep working to get back, and get ready for Sunday," Bell said Thursday after practice.Herndon was suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. "He's been telling me that he is feeling really good, so hopefully he can go out there and be an impact player for us."Herndon developed a quick rapport with Darnold last season when the two were rookies, with the tight end catching 39 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns. The hope is that Herndon will be able to boost a Jets passing offense that currently last in the NFL while averaging 157.3 yards per game."He's just another weapon we can use," Darnold said. (AP) — The New England Patriots released backup quarterback Brian Hoyer and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas among their moves Saturday to reach the NFL-mandated 53-player limit.Hoyer’s release gives the job of backing up 20-year veteran Tom Brady to rookie Jarrett Stidham, the fourth-round draft pick out of Auburn Infant Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , who played in all four preseason games.Stidham completed 61 of 90 passes in the preseason for 731 yards, with four touchdown passes and one interception. His ascension to the backup role means that the Patriots will carry just two quarterbacks for the seventh time in the past eight years.Starting center David Andrews was placed on injured reserve after suffering blood clots in his lung last week. Because he was not on the 53-man roster, he cannot be reactivated during the season.“Whatever my role is on this team, that’s what I’m going to do,” Stidham said after throwing for 225 yards and two touchdowns Thursday in the Patriots’ preseason-ending 31-29 loss to the New York Giants.“Whatever it is, I’m going to continue to work as hard as I possibly can to do that and to help the team.”Hoyer, 33, who was entering his 11th NFL season, was two years into his second tenure with the Patriots Hjalte Froholdt Jersey Draft , having been signed by them out of Michigan State as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2009. He also played for Arizona, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Houston, Chicago and San Francisco.Hoyer did not play in either of the Patriots’ final two preseason games. The biggest surprises were in the Patriots’ receiving group, where Thomas was released while rookie Gunner Olszewski was retained after initially being told earlier Saturday that he would be let go.Thomas, 31, was recovering from Achilles tendon surgery when he was signed as a free agent in April, but he caught a team-high seven passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason finale. Like Hoyer Hjalte Froholdt NFL Jersey , Thomas is not subject to the waiver process and could return to the Patriots if they make further roster moves.Olszewski, an undrafted free agent out of Bemidji State in Minnesota, became the Cinderella story of the preseason. He played defensive back at the small Division II college but raised eyebrows in New England with his energetic play as a wide receiver, kick returner and cornerback.Players waived by the Patriots were running backs Nick Brossette and Jakob Johnson; wide receivers Braxton Berrios, Ryan Davis and Damoun Patterson; tight ends Stephen Anderson, Andrew Beck and Eric Saubert; offensive linemen Cole Croston, Tyler Gauthier, Martez Ivey, Cedrick Lang Hjalte Froholdt NFL Draft , Dan Skipper and Tyree St. Louis; defensive linemen Trent Harris, Ufomba Kamalu and Nick Thurman; linebackers Calvin Munson, Terez Hall, Christian Sam and Scooby Wright; and defensive backs A.J. Howard and Ken Webster.Players not subject to waivers that were released were center James Ferentz and defensive tackle David Parry. The Patriots also confirmed two other trades, sending defensive back Duke Dawson to Denver and obtaining offensive lineman Russell Bodine from Buffalo. Also, guard Hjalte Froholdt, defensive lineman Derek Rivers and safety Malik Gant were also placed on injured reserve, while offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste was placed on the non-football injury list and wide receiver Cameron Meredith begins the season on the physically unable to perform list.
For much of the 2018 season Jermaine Kearse Jerseys 2019 , it was believed that Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell needed to show up by the Tuesday after Week 10 in order to position himself for free agency in 2019. Bell and his agent believed that, too. That’s why, and how, Bell’s plan to report after Week Seven became a plan to sit out the whole year.“That was the biggest mix-up the whole time,” Bell told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. “I thought I had to sit out until Week 10 or else they can [franchise] tag me again [at $14.54 million]. Around the bye week, that’s when I found out I didn’t have to play.”Instead, the rules contemplate that, even if the player never plays under the second franchise tag White Brandon Shell Jerseys , the next franchise tag will be the third franchise tag — and the price the third franchise tag becomes the average of the five highest-paid players at the highest-paid position, which always will be quarterback.Bell told Fowler that Bell learned this “new information” on social media, that he consulted his agent, Adisa Bakari, about the situation, and that Bell then decided not to show up. (This is a roundabout way of Bell admitting that his agent didn’t know about the rule.)Even after Bell realized that he could skip the full season and still force his way to free agency, Bell thought about showing up for the final weeks of the season.“I was so close to doing it,” Bell said. “At the same time Brandon Shell Jerseys 2019 , I was so torn. Do I go through that? Will they embrace me or will they not? I eventually decided I sat out 10 games, I can sit six more. At the time, the team was malfunctioning, having problems, a lot of blame on me. I didn’t want to come back and not feel welcome.”Bell also had concerns about suffering an injury during the final six games of the season. So he skipped the entire year, the Steelers couldn’t (as a practical matter) apply the franchise tag for a third time, they decided not to use the transition tag after they learned it would have cost $14.54 million, they let him hit the open market White Eric Tomlinson Jerseys , and now Bell is a Jet.Most importantly, every non-quarterback now tagged for a second time knows that he can sit out the full season and force his way to the open market the next year. On Tuesday, Jets coach Adam Gase wasn’t ready to commit, one way or the other, to Le'Veon Bell‘s status for Thursday night’s preseason opener. Unsurprisingly, the star running back won’t play against the Giants, Brian Costello of the reports. Bell will take part in pregame warmups with his new teammates at his request, Costello adds.Bell has not played in a game since Jan. 14 Eric Tomlinson Jerseys 2019 , 2018, in the Steelers’ postseason loss to the Jaguars. He missed all of last season in a contract dispute with the Steelers and signed with the Jets in free agency this spring.Does Bell need to scrape off some rust? Running back Adrian Peterson missed most of the 2014 season, playing only one game because of a suspension, and did not play in the 2015 preseason upon his return to the Vikings. But he still led the league in rushing in 2015.The Jets want to be deliberate in their approach to Bell’s return. “It is a fine line with Le’Veon,” Gase said Tuesday. “He hasn’t played in a year. At the same time, when’s the right time? Is it this game? Is it the next one? Is it the next one? Do we just not play him this preseason? Do we go through the whole time and just give him reps? All those questions are what we keep talking about.”
Kirk Cousins Jersey , gang. Still dealing with jet lag and fell asleep way too early last night.—Ted)It’s tough to call the fifth game of the season a must win game, but that’s exactly what the Minnesota Vikings were facing in Philadelphia Sunday. A porous defense and a one dimensional offense had the Vikings looking into the abyss of one win in five games with a loss, and a shot at the playoffs would have seemed like a pipe dream. But the Vikings would not go gentle into the good night. They planted their flag and made a stand, and quite possibly saved their season with an inspired 23-21 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on the road. Now, a season that was on the brink seems recharged and re-energized, and with the defense finding their 2017 form, well...how do you like us now, Mr. Keith? How do you like me nowNow that I’m on my way?Do you still think I’m crazy Standin here today?I couldn’t make you love me But I always dreamed about living in your radio How do you like me now?Your SMR that’s managed to make it to .500 follows.Blue Chip Stocks:Kirk Cousins, QB: Whatever the woes that have befallen the Vikings this year haven’t befallen Granitejaw McDreamy. Cousins has had a strong start to the season, and put up another 300 yard game against the Eagles. In five games, he’s thrown for over 400 yards twice, and 300 yards today. Our friend and colleague Eric Thompson extrapolated his current pace in to a full 16 game season:It’s hard to imagine that Cousins and the passing offense can keep up this torrid pace, but if you want to still insist Kirk Cousins isn’t a franchise QB, please, feel free. I’m not going to stop you, because it’s a free country and all, just know that you’re wrong.“BUT TED RAWR RAWR HE’S NOT RAWR RAWR BECAUSE BUFFALO RAWR RAWR”Please stop. You’re straining your larynx, and you’re still wrong. Literally everyone had a bad game. It happens. And when you look at the other options the Vikings could have gone with and how they’re playing, Cousins was the right call. I literally have to rewind my DVR on about 5-6 throws Cousins makes, every game, and just admire it. That drop in the bucket TD to Adam Thielen was amazing, and no other QB the Vikes have had in recent seasons make that throw.Adam Thielen, WR: I’ve been careful to not say either Thielen of Stefon Diggs were the best receivers in football, because, well...there are a lot of good wide receivers in the NFL. But look up at Thielen’s extrapolated numbers that Eric also provided, and then consider this:That’s a list of one. Randy Moss couldn’t do this. Nor could Cris Carter. Or Jerry Rice. Or Terrell Owens, Marvin Harrison, or Andre Reed. No one, except Adam Thielen. That’s utterly incredible, and his 116 yards and beautiful TD reception today just added to his resume. He also had the longest play of the game, a 68 yard catch and run that took the Vikings from their own five to deep into Eagles territory. Tres magnifique. So, now I’ll say it: Adam Thielen is the best wide receiver in the NFL. Full stop. Want more evidence? Okay, here:Linval Joseph, DT: When you score a touchdown and record a sack, you get a blue chip. Joseph led the charge in the Vikings defense returning to their 2017 form, at least for today. Roll the tape:So much post TD swag:Solid Investments:Stefon Diggs, WR: Diggs didn’t have as many big plays as Thielen did Adrian Peterson Jersey , but whenever he got the ball in his hands, he made plays. He actually had as many yards from scrimmage as Thielen, but Diggs did it by contributing 25 yards rushing, which made him the second leading rusher on the team. Latavius Murray, RB: When you look at Murray’s numbers at face value (42 yards on 11 carries) you don’t come away all that impressed. But for the first time this season, the Vikings stuck with the running game all day, and in the fourth quarter, when the Vikings went on their game clinching drive that ended with a Dan Bailey field goal, Murray made a couple big runs that helped eat the clock and ice the game.Danielle Hunter, DE: Hunter had another good game, to include a tackle for loss and a sack. He now has five sacks in five games, and with Everson Griffen out for the foreseeable future, the bulk of pressure brought by the defensive line will originate with Hunter. Junk Bonds:Roc Thomas, RB: Thomas had a forgettable day. His four caries for eight yards weren’t great, but it was his inability to catch a swing pass that was actually a lateral was a near disaster. It became a fumble, that the Eagles recovered, and came at the worst possible moment. It was mid 4th quarter, the Vikings clung to a six point lead, and it felt like one of those ‘here we go’ moments where the game swung to Philly’s side for good. The defense and Dan Bailey bailed him out, but that was a critical mistake at a critical moment in the game.Riley Reiff, LT: Maybe it’s me, but when Reiff was in the Vikings o-line was a mess. When he went out after re-injuring his foot, Rashod Hill went to LT and Brian O’Neill came in to play RT. After that, it seemed like the o-line played a lot better. A healthy Reiff is better than Hill or O’Neill, but it seems obvious that Reiff isn’t healthy right now.Buy/Sell:Buy: Rashod Hill, LT. I thought Hill played pretty well on the left side on Sunday. I don’t remember Kirk Cousins getting a lot of pressure from his blind side once Hill took over for Reiff, and I thought he played a pretty clean game.Sell: Rashod Hill, RT. Brian O’Neill played much better than Hill did on the right side yesterday, though. In fact, it seems to me that O’Neill has outplayed Hill whenever he’s been put in to the lineup, and I’d like to see him start.Buy: The running game was good enough today. 23 carries for 77 yards total isn’t great, but the Vikings stuck with the running game for four quarters instead of abandoning it early or ignoring it completely, and it paid off in the fourth quarter. There’s still a lot of work to do to get better, but it felt that the Vikings took a step in the right direction against Philly.Sell: The running game issues are solved. The Vikings still can’t run the ball effectively though. Murray is the team’s leading rusher, with a paltry 106 yards and a YPC average of 3.5. I don’t know if o-line changes are in order, but I’d look at putting Hill at LT until Reiff is healthy, I’d swap out Brett Jones for Compton John Randle Jersey , and I’d put O’Neill at RT. Maybe that will help things out, maybe it won’t, but the Vikings need to do something to try and get the running game untracked.Buy: Dan Bailey’s 52 yard field goal was clutch. That fourth quarter drive to seal the game was something the Vikings got really good at last year. They had a slim lead, but were able to run the clock down, get some points, and seal the game. They started from their 11 after the defense forced a punt on the Thomas fumble, and ate up over six minutes of game clock by effectively running and throwing the ball. It culminated with Bailey nailing a 52 yard field goal, right down the middle. Ball game.Sell: The rest of Dan Bailey’s game was clutch. Yeah, I guess kickers missing kicks are just going to be part of this team from now on, though. He hit three field goals, but doinked a 28 yarder off the left upright on the first drive of the game, and went wide right from 48. Both misses were in the first half, and if he makes one of those, the 52 yarder isn’t necessary. I really am getting tired of the kicking issues with this team, and I’d like just one guy to come in and stop the bleeding. And if the second most accurate kicker in NFL history can’t fix this issue, who can?Grandson Quote Of The Week:My grandson Gabriel is really starting to get into watching the Vikings with me, and I couldn’t be happier. Watching games has been kind of a downer at times since my Dad passed away last year, but Gabe is stepping up to the plate. Now, he’s only five, so his attention wanes and he’ll go off and do other things, but when he’s into it, he’s into it. He watched a good part of the first half, and then came back down as the Vikes were driving to kick the game clinching 52 yard field goal. Our conversation:Gabe: Papa, are the good purple guys still winning?Me: Yes, but they need to at least kick a field goal to clinch the game.Gabe: A feel goal? What’s that again?Me: Well, the purple guy kicks the ball between the yellow poles. See them? That’s called a goal post.Gabe: Ohhhhhhh. Go purple guy!/Bailey nails itGabe: YYYYYEEEEEEAHHHH PAPA THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT WOOOOOOO!!!/high five/chest bumpThe kid hoots and hollers as much as I do. Not a whole lot of news on the Vikings front since our last mock. They’ve signed Adam Thielen to a nice extension, a couple of AAF players, and a backup QB, but overall Alan Page Jersey , it’s nothing that should affect their draft strategy in any meaningful way. So, let’s get on with with another mock, our eighth. If you care about any of the other ones I’ve done, you can check them out here:But if you are a person imbued with common sense, self-worth, and dignity and want to skip those, please do. No one will blame you; conversely, people might actually think better of you, if we’re being brutally honest here. You’re still here? Okay. I’m as surprised as you are, but let’s get going. Consider these the ground rules for how I do these mocks:I’m not a professional scout, coach, or GM. I am, however, a Professional Idiot. If you EVER get to the point where you think ‘man this guy is pretty sharp about drafting and stuff’ go back and read the previous sentence. Then talk to any member of my family, immediate or extended, and they’ll set you straight. My methodology is fairly straightforward. I’m using Fanspeak’s On The Clock deluxe, high falutin’ draft simulator, that allows me to make and receive trade offers. In formulating and/or accepting trades, I’m using the 2019 Drafttek Trade Value Chart. I know most teams don’t follow it to the number, and other trades include players, like the Percy Harvin trade a few years back. Trading players in this simulation isn’t an option, and you have to have some kind of baseline, so this is mine:Minnesota’s biggest need is still the offensive line, even with free agency essentially done...but I don’t think it’s a mandatory, gotta pick in the first round kind of need anymore. I still believe it’s the primary area of concern, so with that in mind this is what I feel are the Vikings needs:Offensive lineDefensive lineTight End/Wide Receiver In the past, I said I would try to mimic GM Rick Spielman, but I think I’m just gonna be me for this one, as in ‘what would I like to see happen?’ I would like to see the Vikings trade down, if possible, and get a couple extra picks. If the Vikings could get an extra day one or two pick by making a trade, I think it would help shore up both lines, and give them more top talent on the roster. In setting up the draft variables, I chose to use the On The Clock Composite Big Board, just to change things up a bit. The computer is using multiple, as will be the case in real life, the setting is classic Randy Moss Jersey , and team needs are user voted. These are the picks the Vikings have heading into the 2019 Draft:1st RoundWhen the round opens, I get two trade offers:I’m going to be honest here: I’m half tempted to trade up with Denver to get in a position to draft Dwayne Haskins, and I’m not even kidding. But I don’t think he’d be there, so I’m going to turn that offer down. But that Patriots offer? Kind of farther down than I’d like to go, but it’s still in the first round, and I get an extra second and third round pick. I accept the offer. These are my new picks:I let the draft run through 26 picks, and most of the top offensive linemen are gone. I want to get a top guy and not risk losing out on marquee talent at my biggest position of need, so I’m going to try and swing a trade with Oakland. I make this offer:They accept, and although I lose my forth round pick, I get a high pick in the fifth round, while still keeping both second round picks and a third round pick. I am now on the clock, and this is my big board:Selection: Cody Ford, T, OklahomaRationale: He’s the best offensive lineman for a team that desperately needs one. I’m not overthinking this one.2nd RoundI get no trade offers when the round starts, but I get two when I come on the clock I get offers for both my second round picks:Eh, it’s a nice haul of picks, but I’d rather get top shelf talent in the first couple rounds, which is why I made the initial trade with the Patriots anyway, so I turn these offers down. Here’s my big board for the first selection:Selection, pick 50 (2/18): Irv Smith, TE, ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDERationale: So here’s the deal. If you think Kyle Rudolph will be around 3-4 more years, and/or the TE’s currently on the roster can step up and start, then this is a dumb pick. However, if you think Rudy is gone in a season or two (he will be), and/or the guys behind him can’t step up (I don’t think they can), then Smith makes a ton of sense here. I like having a pass catching threat to go with Stefon Diggs and Thielen, without wasting a pick on a wide receiver. Here’s the big board for my next second round pick:Selection, pick 56 (2/24): Chase Winovich, EDGE, That Team Up NorthRationale: For me, this pick was between either Winovich or Elgton Jenkins. WIth the moves the Vikings made in free agency, I think they have done more to address the offensive line than the defensive line, so I went with the defensive guy here.3rd RoundNo trade offers, so here’s my big board:Selection: Michael Jordan, G, THE Ohio State UniversityRationale: Although I think the Vikings have addressed the o-line Cris Carter Jersey , and I got Cody Ford, are the guys they signed in free agency long term answers? Jordan is a player that can push for a starting job, or at least be a realistic option for immediate depth on the interior.4th RoundNo Selection.5th RoundBig board for round five:Selection: T.J. Edwards, LB, WisconsinRationale: The Vikings need linebacker depth, and as we head into the fifth round and later, grit becomes a big factor in these selections as well as talent and need. All Wisconsin recruits are football Nick Puntos, and Edwards is as Nick Punto-y as Nick Punto.6th RoundWe’re pretty much through the ‘let’s make trades’ portion of mock drafts, because the actual late round trades on draft day are boring, much less fake ones. Big board:Selection, pick 190 (6/17): Lil’Jordan Humphrey, WR, TexasRationale: The Vikings need a WR, but between Troy Williamson and Laquon Treadwell, I don’t want them to pick a WR earlier than here ever again in the draft. Wait, I’ll be okay with a fifth, as long as it is the clone of Stefon Diggs. As we get to the sixth round and later, we add to ‘grit’ with ‘dudes with cool or weird names’. Boom, done.Selection, pick 209 (6/36): Gary Johnson, LB, TexasRationale: After several unsuccessful Presidential runs on the Libertarian ticket, the former governor of New Mexico will try to fulfill his childhood dream of playing in the NFL.7th RoundBig board:Selection, pick 247 (7/33): Johnnie Dixon, WR, THE Ohio StateRationale: I literally picked the highest ranked OSU player left. And I like DIxon.Selection, pick 250 (7/36): Easton Stick, QB, North Dakota StateRationale: When Stick to Dixon becomes more mythical than Montana to Rice, remember you heard it here first.RecapHere’s the draft class for A Mock Story:I like it. I got two offensive linemen and an EDGE rusher to shore up both lines, the best tight end in the draft that didn’t go to Iowa, and addressed pretty much all the remaining team needs. To get here I made these trades:
big against Lions During his Thursday press conference Kingsley Keke Jersey 2019 , Mike McCarthy was asked if his wide receiver depth chart this week reminded him of the Packers’ 2016 Week 8 trip to Atlanta. Injuries resulted in an unusual lineup at receiver that week. With Randall Cobb, Ty Montgomery (splitting time at receiver and running back by that point), and James Starks out of the lineup, the Packers were forced to go receiver heavy in their lineup, even if they didn’t have many experienced receivers around.“I think that’s a nice comparison,” said McCarthy of the callback. “If I recall, Geronimo Allison had his first touchdown.”He did, in fact. Allison caught two passes for 21 yards and a touchdown in 19 snaps that day. Fellow rookie Trevor Davis added three catches for 24 yards and a touchdown of his own in 36 snaps. (Jeff Janis also caught four passes for 30 yards and a score and played 58 snaps (94%). That’s the most we’d ever see him on the field on offense in a single game, but that’s really not the point of this story.)As in that trip to Atlanta two years ago, the Packers will have to lean heavily on younger receivers this week. Even if Davante Adams can play, it doesn’t seem likely that Randall Cobb or Geronimo Allison will be available. There will be plenty of snaps to go around for the Packers’ three rookies.Sooner or later, the Packers were going to have to find out whether their young receivers could play. Over the next few days leading up to this year’s draft, Acme Packing Company will examine the Packers’ history at each current slot for 2019, as well as run down the names of recent picks around the league at the position. While the Packers’ draft picks at the #30 slot in team history have left the team wanting, the most recent selection by Green Bay at #44 overall was a stalwart for over a decade. The team has picked 44th five times in history, but Ron Wolf found an absolute stud for the offensive line 2000, a player who steadily protected two quarterbacks for 12 years. Here’s a look at the history in Green Bay with the 44th pick in the NFL Draft.Packers’ History at #441953: Gib Dawson, RBIn the 1950s and 60s, the 44th pick was a fourth-rounder, and the Packers used it three times in those two decades. The first such pick was Dawson, a Texas running back who played just one season in the NFL. In that rookie year, he played seven games and served primarily as a punt and kick returner. Dawson had jut five carries for 18 yards Cheap Kingsley Keke Jersey , but he returned seven punts for 72 yards (including a 60-yard touchdown) and four kickoffs for 102 yards.1956: Cecil Morris, GDespite being a fourth-round draft pick, Morris never played a down of football in the NFL.1964: Bob Long, WRA 6-foot-3 flanker from Wichita State, Long served in a backup role for the Packers during their championship three-peat in 1965, 66, and 67. Long’s best season as a Packer was in 1965, when he played in 13 games and caught 13 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns. After Vince Lombardi left Green Bay following the 1967 season, Long did as well. After a year with the Atlanta Falcons in 1968, Long rejoined Lombardi in Washington for his most productive season, catching 48 passes for 533 yards and a score while starting every game. He played one more year in the NFL, suiting up for three games with the LA Rams in 1970.1979: Steve Atkins, RBBy the late 1970s, pick 44 was now a second-round pick. In 1979, they tabbed Maryland running back Steve Atkins as their choice, and he served as a backup for parts of three seasons before being released early in the 1981 campaign.Atkins carried the football 120 times for 467 yards and two touchdowns in 19 games with the team Kingsley Keke Jersey Womens , adding 18 receptions for 138 yards and another score.2000: Chad Clifton, OTUnquestionably the finest 44th pick in Packers history was Clifton, a massive tackle from Tennessee who immediately stepped into the starting lineup for a decade. Ron Wolf made Clifton the 44th selection in Wolf’s penultimate draft as the Packers’ GM. Early in his career, Clifton seemed destined to be remembered not for his excellent play, but for being the target on a brutal blind-side hit from Warren Sapp on an interception return late in the 2002 season. Clifton suffered a hip injury in that game that put his career in question, but he returned to the starting lineup the following year. In the following eight-year span from 2003 to 2010, however, Clifton missed just six games, protecting the blind sides of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Clifton’s career came to an end following an injury-shortened 2011 season.Somehow, Clifton only made two Pro Bowls in his stellar career, but Packers fans know how critical he was to the success of the offense. During three years in Miami Authentic Thomas Sweeney Jersey , Adam Gase wrestled with the issue of selfish players. In his first year with the Jets, he’s already found a different culture.“I think where our locker room is right now where guys are really working hard and trying to focus on creating the best team we can possibly be,” Gase told reporters on Wednesday. “The unselfishness here is outstanding. Guys just — they work. It’s not about them, it’s about the team and I’ve been very impressed with how our players have gone about their business. So how is that culture created?“It has a lot to do with players,” Gase said. “You can talk about it all you want but at the end of the day, it’s really a choice the players make. I think the guys that we have, on defense especially I think, those guys are team-first guys and I think it helps when your best players are like that.”The Jets quietly have put together a solid team, and they’re a team without the pressure of expectations. (AP) — Coach Sean McDermott knows the Buffalo Bills aren’t going to win too many more games if they keep allowing opponents to start drives at midfield — or beyond.“That wasn’t part of the game plan, for them to start at the 48,” McDermott said, sarcastically.Three turnovers by rookie quarterback Josh Allen, coupled with a series of special teams coverage breakdowns led to the Bills squandering a 14-3lead in a 27-23 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.Though the Jets took their first and only lead on Elijah McGuire’s touchdown on fourth-and-goal from the 1 with 1:17 remaining, McDermott said the trouble began much earlier when the Bills kept providing New York opportunities.Allen’s first two turnovers on a lost fumble and an interception committed inside Bills territory Infant Thomas Sweeney Jersey , not only ended Buffalo scoring opportunities, but led to a Jets field goal. And then there were Buffalo’s special teams meltdowns, which led to Andre Roberts finishing with 176 yards on five kickoff returns.“There’s a recipe to winning in this league and it starts by taking care of the football, giving yourself a chance with good field position,” McDermott said. “We were shooting ourselves in the foot. That’s really the story of the game right there.”Buffalo dropped to 4-9 and will finish with a losing record for just the second time in five seasons, and a year after making the playoffs to end a 17-year postseason drought. Expectations were lower for the Bills this season, given the commitment they made to rebuilding through youth last offseason. The lack of experience has shown for a team starting five first- or second-year players on offense, and four more on defense. Each time the Bills appeared to gain momentum, they handed it back to the Jets. After Isaiah McKenzie scored on a 15-yard run to put Buffalo up 14-3 Thomas Sweeney Jersey Draft , Roberts followed with a 51-yard kickoff return, which led to Jason Myers hitting a 21-yard field goal. After Buffalo’s Stephen Hauschka hit a 31-yard field goal to regain the 14-point edge, Roberts burst up the right sideline for an 86-yard return, which set up Trenton Cannon’s 4-yard touchdown. And after Hauschka hit a 36-yard field goal with 2:31 left to put Buffalo up 23-20, Roberts not only returned the next kickoff 22 yards to New York’s 34, but the Jets picked up another 5 yards due to an illegal formation penalty called against Buffalo.Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold then proceeded to march the Jets on a nine-play, 61-yard drive to win it, including a perfectly placed 37-yard pass to Robby Anderson, who made an over-the-shoulder catch up the right sideline.Members of the Bills’ defense blamed themselves for allowing the Jets to score. And yet Thomas Sweeney NFL Jersey , Buffalo limited New York to 248 yards offense and 15 first downs. The difference was the Jets having eight drives start at their 35 or better, including five inside Buffalo territory.Allen blamed himself.“I’ve got to be smarter with the football,” said Allen, who now has nine interceptions and two lost fumbles, versus five touchdowns passing and five rushing.Allen’s first interception came when he was scrambling to his right and, rather than throwing the ball away, floated a pass back toward the field and was easily intercepted by Trumaine Johnson. Allen’s second interception came on Buffalo’s final drive, when he tried to force a pass to Zay Jones, only to have it picked off by Johnson.“Yeah Thomas Sweeney NFL Draft , he’s got to learn from those,” McDermott said. “At times, he’s tried to do too much. That’s tough living there.”
Jimmy Graham Jersey , so he won’t have a wealth of experience to draw from when he gets in game situations this year. He’s hoping he has numbers on his side.Via Pete Dougherty of the , LaFleur has been thinking about the role of analytics in his future decision-making process, and is implementing plans to use numbers as a tool. He didn’t hire a specific game-management coach as others have, but he retained Mike McCarthy’s analytics staff, and plans to have General Manager Brian Gutekunst come up with specific situations during OTA practices to test his decision-making. He did similar things as the offensive coordinator of the Titans, but the pressure is obviously different now.“Being the play caller I want to think on my feet,” LaFleur said. “Tell me you’re going to throw one in — and we’ll throw one in randomly, because that’s what this game is about, it’s about sudden change, it’s about being able to react to any adversity.‘[In Tennessee] it was really beneficial Elgton Jenkins Green Bay Packers Jersey , because there were a couple times where I was like, ‘Ooof.’ I’m trying to think real fast, I haven’t thought about this, what am I going to do? Then you do whatever you can in that moment, then go back and reflect, OK, was it good or could I have done something different?”He’s going to meet regularly with his staff during the offseason, to create those scenarios to test players (and himself) in practice, as he learns the whens and the hows of being in charge.“Numbers are great but they don’t tell the whole story,” LaFleur said. “That’s why I think you need to go along with the story. You can’t just blanket-statement stuff. . . . Going back to [an end-of-half] example Elgton Jenkins Jersey 2019 , who’s the quarterback? How’s our defense playing? There are so many variables you have to take into account. Sometimes you have to trust your gut.”That might sound like an old-school coach’s take, but LaFleur seems prepared to embrace the help, as he enters a new realm of responsibility. General manager Brian Gutekunst has ten selections to work with as of Thursday morning, with a pair of selections in the first round.Gutekunst added three more picks to the Packers’ normal seven through shrewd trades in 2018. The first-round pick came courtesy of the New Orleans Saints, who traded this year’s first in order to move up from 27 to the Packers’ 14th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. New Orleans selected defensive end Marcus Davenport, while the Packers later moved back up to the 18th pick to select cornerback Jaire Alexander. The other two added picks come on day three, as the Packers have extra selections in rounds four and six as a result of trading safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and quarterback Brett Hundley.Because of the team’s two first-round selections, the Packers’ rookie pool is the fourth-highest of any team in this year’s draft. That term refers to the total amount of salary cap hit that the team’s current draft choices will take up in year one of their contracts, not considering the Top 51 salary cap rule. Green Bay’s picks currently have a pool value of $10 Color Rush Elgton Jenkins Jersey ,304,256 (according to Over the Cap), though the actual cap space required to sign the picks would be only about $4.8 million. The Packers’ pool value is fourth-highest in the NFL as of this moment because first-round picks take up the bulk of that pool value; they trail only the New York Giants (first-round picks at 6 and 17), the Oakland Raiders (three first-rounders at 5, 24, and 27), and the Arizona Cardinals (picking first overall). Here are the team’s ten current selections.Packers’ 2019 Draft PicksRound One#12 overall: Rashan Gary, EDGE, Michigan#21 overall: Darnell Savage, Jr. Cheap Elgton Jenkins Jersey , S, Maryland (acquired from Seahawks for picks #30, #114, & #118)#30 overall (acquired from Saints on 2018 draft-day trade) — tradedRound Two#12 (#44 overall): Elgton Jenkins, G, Mississippi StateRound Three#11 (#75 overall): Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&MRound Four#12 (#114 overall) — traded#16 (#118 overall — acquired from Washington for S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix)— tradedRound Five#12 (#150 overall): Kingsley Keke, DT, Texas A&MRound Six#12 (#185 overall): Ka’Dar Hollman Elgton Jenkins Jersey Womens , CB, Toledo#21 (#194 overall — acquired from Seahawks for QB Brett Hundley): Dexter Williams, RB, Notre DameRound Seven#12 (#226 overall) — Ty Summers, LB, TCU
practice with a back injury. He did not practice Thursday Mike Hughes Jersey , increasing concern about his availability for Sunday. So what do the Packers do if they don’t have Bakhtiari? Right guard Billy Turner could move to tackle and have Lucas Patrick start at right guard, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports as the most likely scenario. The Packers also have Alex Light and right tackle Bryan Bulaga as options to play left tackle.“I don’t know if we’re at that point right now, to be honest with you,” Bulaga said, via Demovsky. “So I don’t even want to go down that path. Obviously, Dave’s one of the best tackles in the game, so obviously whenever you remove a really good player, you’re not putting in a better player than that really good player. So it obviously hurts the front, but guys have to step up. Just like if someone gets nicked up in a game, someone’s got to go in and play. They’re expected to win and play at a high level. But to my knowledge, we’re not at that point.” Three more days until the opening night of the draft, I can’t wait"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Vikings 2018 SeasonVikings 2019 OffseasonU.S. Bank StadiumMinnesota Vikings PodcastsOpen ThreadsMinnesota Vikings News and Links: April 24, 2019New,844commentsThree more days until the opening night of the draft, I can’t waitCDTShareTweetShareShareMinnesota Vikings News and Links: April 24, 2019Merry Tuesday Armon Watts Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , everyone!Alllllllrighty then, opening day of the draft is only three+ short days away. NASHVILLE Jamal Adams Jerseys 2019 , Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans‘ margin for error is gone, and earning a second straight playoff berth will require finishing this season with a winning flourish. The Titans (5-6) blew hopes of the franchise’s first AFC South title in a decade by losing two straight inside the division to cap a stretch of five losses in seven games. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard says the Titans’ backs are against the wall now.“We got a chance to change and make up for what we’ve been doing these past couple weeks and not worried about what we should’ve done,” Woodyard said.Coming off a 34-17 loss in Houston on Monday night, the Titans will try to make their stand at home playing four of their final five games starting Sunday with the New York Jets (3-8). The Titans have won 13 of their last 16 at Nissan Stadium, and linebacker Brian Orakpo says they understand the challenge they face.A year ago, the Titans went 2-3 in December to miss out on the AFC South title but grab the second wild-card spot. Orakpo says they need to be realistic, ignore all the scenarios and see the Jets as the first step toward winning out.“We have to give ourselves a chance, 10-6 looks pretty good to me,” Orakpo said. “And we have to make sure that’s a reality and not just some talk.”Losers of five straight, the Jets are hoping they can get Sam Darnold back at quarterback after missing the last two games with an injured foot, including a 27-13 loss to the Patriots last week. The rookie remains optimistic about the Jets’ goals for a season in which coach Todd Bowles’ future is on the clock.“Just finishing strong, sticking together, doing what we can to win these last five, and who knows White Marcus Maye Jerseys ,” Darnold said. “We’ll go from there.”Some things to know about the Jets and Titans:MARIOTA’S PASSINGTitans quarterback Marcus Mariota is coming off the second-best single-game passing performance in NFL history, completing 95.7 percent of passes in Houston. He’s on pace for the single-best performance in franchise history with a 70.3 completion percentage this season, a mark currently set by Cody Carlson at 65.6 percent in 1992 with the then-Houston Oilers. Mariota also ranks fourth in the NFL this season for completion percentage.STRUGGLING OFFENSESWhether it has been Darnold or veteran Josh McCown under center, the Jets’ offense has struggled lately to score. Since beating Indianapolis 42-24 on Oct. 14, New York has just 56 points — a five-game span during which the Jets have failed to score more than 17 against any opponent. They rank 26th in the league, averaging 20.1 points a game. That’s still better than the Titans, who went eight quarters without a touchdown earlier this season, including being shut out by Baltimore in October. They’re averaging 17.7 points a game, 29th in the league.HOMECOMINGJets linebacker Avery Williamson will be in familiar territory when he plays in Tennessee. The former Milan High School star spent his first four NFL seasons with the Titans before signing a three-year, $22.5 million deal with New York. Williamson leads the Jets with 117 overall tackles and is tied for second on the team with three sacks.“It’s definitely going to be fun going against my old teammates,” Williamson said. “I haven’t seen them since January, so it’ll definitely be cool, especially going on the opposite sideline. It’ll be interesting.”TOUGH TAKEAWAYSThe Jets have 15 takeaways this season, which ranks them a respectable 15th in the NFL in that category. But turnovers have been tough to come by lately for New York — and it’s on the verge of making history. The defense has not caused a turnover in five consecutive games Marcus Maye Jerseys 2019 , tying a league record for futility. One more game and the Jets will hold that dubious distinction all by themselves.“We’re obviously out there talking about turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, and getting it done, but we’re not getting it done,” safety Jamal Adams said. “We’re just talking about it. It’s very frustrating as a defense when we’re not getting turnovers and helping our offense get in better situations. It’s something we have to get done.”The Titans have only nine takeaways this season and none in the past three games.LONG RANGERJets kicker Jason Myers has been one of the team’s biggest surprises this season, ranking second in the NFL with 23 field goals. He has been consistently good on long-distance attempts, making a league-record five kicks of 55 yards or more. He beat out several kickers early this season after being claimed off waivers from Seattle during training camp. (It could be GM, Head Coach ArDarius Stewart Jerseys 2019 , Quarterback, Linebacker, Head of Scouting, Waterboy—the sky is the limit). President of Football Operations. This is a position that does not exist in the NY Jets. We currently have a set up where GM and Coach both answer to the owner. In my opinion this has not worked. The owner needs to completely uninvolve himself, and get folks who know what they are doing. Moreover in 18 years he has owned the club, we have had numerous rookie head coaches and GMs. We need a Proven GM to hire his head coach and build his program. This would be my position. Build a firewall between Woody and the team and hire a proven GM. GM would hire the best head coach he can. No more rookie experiments. Mike Maccagnan gets fired after the season and Woody Johnson decides to name you the next GM, giving you one very clear goal: win the Super Bowl within the next 4 years. What is your strategy to make the Jets a Super Bowl winner? What is your strategy to build this team into a perennial Super Bowl contender? Truth be told I would have fired both at the end of last season. I would demand we overhaul the offensive line and assemble skill players who can score and carry the offense. Under Bowles, defense has always been the priority but simply stated they do not play as good as Bowles thinks. Just look at the last game where Bowles defers after winning the coin toss. The Bills score in two plays and the JETS were never in the game. The O goes 3 and out and the other team marches down the field. Bowles is a horrible coach. The players may claim he is great, but put simply they don’t play for him. All the penalties are evidence they are an undisciplined and unfocused. My biggest fear? Woody (or Chris) wont fire them! This is a debacle.*side note—-the answer to this question was given before Bowles was fired.
FOXBOROUGH Womens David Andrews Jersey , Mass. (AP) — Yes, Tom Brady still wants to play next season. And beyond. But first up is Sunday’s regular-season finale and then the playoffs for the New England Patriots. The 41-year-old Brady reiterated Friday that he plans to play in 2019, and then quickly tried to return the focus to this weekend’s game against the New York Jets.“This week’s the one that matters and that’s what we got to do — take care of business this week,” he said.Brady has long said he plans to play past this season. But a sore left knee and a poor performance in Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills brought back questions about the future.Appearing on Westwood One Radio, Brady said: “I know I’ve talked about it for a long time. I have goals to not only play next year, but beyond that. And I’m going to try to do it as best I possibly can. I’m going to give it everything I have, like I always have. It will certainly be a challenge. I don’t take any of these things for granted, but I hope I can keep playing and I hope I can keep playing at a championship level.”There have been times in the past when Brady rested for Week 17, but the AFC East champions are looking to clinch a first-round bye at home against the Jets. The Patriots (10-5) also have a long-shot chance of grabbing the top AFC seed for the postseason.Playing at home in the playoffs could be a major factor for a team that is 7-0 at Gillette Stadium and 3-5 on the road.“I think if we play well (at home), the crowd’s into it, but the one positive I see from being here is that we practice in the elements all the time http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-steve-grogan-jersey ,” Brady said. “Going out and executing in whatever conditions, hopefully we handle them better than our opponents.”Brady is 27-7 against the Jets, winning his last five and eight of the last nine — including a 27-13 victory at the Meadowlands on Nov. 25. This week, he faces a 4-11 team that could be playing its final game under coach Todd Bowles and arrives at Gillette with nothing to lose.“We’ve talked about all those things — we’ve prepared for all those things,” Brady said. “We’ve played this team a lot and they defend us a little differently each time that they play us. They’ve got good players, they’ve got a good scheme, they have a lot of defense, they have a lot of calls. They’re well-coached and they kind of pick what they want to do. I’m sure they’ll be aggressive and we’ve got to be able to counter that.”Brady was 20 of 31 for 283 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Nov. 25 game. Rookie Sony Michel rushed for a season-high 133 yards in the victory.Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold missed the first matchup with an injury, but has played well since returning.NOTES: Brady heaped praise on former teammate Ben Watson, who plans to retire after this season. “Ben’s been a great friend for a long time Youth Sony Michel Jerseys , and (had) an incredible career,” Brady said. “He’ll certainly be missed. He had a great impact on this team and every team he played for because of the person he is. He’s just a great man, great father, great husband, great player, great teammate. … We’ll always be in touch. Wish him nothing but the very best.” With a need for wide receivers, New England and Danny Amendola have mutual interest about a possible reunion."With the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart looking barren and dry, it comes to no surprise that New England and recently released receiver Danny Amendola have mutual interest about a reunion, Jeff Howe of TheAthletic.com reports.Amendola, who left New England last offseason, inked a two-year Sony Michel Jerseys Stitched , $12 million deal that included $8.25 million in guarantees, with the Miami Dolphins. He was released after one season in which he posted 59 catches for 575 yards and one touchdown. On his way out the door, Amendola made several comments about Bill Belichick and the “tight-ship” he runs in New England, leaving some to think a potential return would be off the table.“It’s not easy, that’s for sure. He’s an a--h--- sometimes. There were a lot of things I didn’t like about playing for him, but I must say, the things I didn’t like were all in regards to getting the team better, and I respected him,” Amendola said. “I didn’t like practicing in the snow, I didn’t like practicing in the rain, but that was going to make us a better football team and that was going to make me a better football player. It wasn’t easy Trey Flowers Jersey , and he’d be the first to admit, at the [Super Bowl] ring ceremony, that it wasn’t easy playing for him. The silver lining was that we were at the ring ceremony.”Now, the Patriots have a chance to bring Danny “Playoff” Amendola back to Foxboro, and it appears they’d like him back.Amendola spent five years of his 10-year career with the Patriots. The receiver had the most success of his career catching passes from Tom Brady, piling up 2,383 yards, 12 touchdowns and was a clutch factor in two Super Bowl victories. With Julian Edelman the only wide receiver on the Patriots roster who has caught a pass from Tom Brady, it makes sense to bring back the 33-year old veteran. A potential deal with Amendola also wouldn't prohibit the Patriots from adding even more bodies at the position, and potentially getting younger through the draft.
EAST RUTHERFORD Deandre Baker NFL Draft , N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have waived former first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers and signed tackle Brian Mihalik off their practice squad to replace him.The team announced the moves Tuesday, a day after coach Pat Shurmur said Flowers would either be traded or waived within 24 hours.Flowers was the ninth pick overall in the 2015 draft. He never lived up to expectations. The Miami product was moved from left to right tackle this season after free agent Nate Solder was signed. He ended up losing that job to Chad Wheeler after two games. The Giants, who face the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, also signed kicker Marshall Koehn to their practice squad. Placekicker Aldrick Rosas has a sore quad and his status for Thursday is uncertain.Shurmur said Tuesday that Rosas’ injury is improving.Mihalik played in 15 games for the Detroit Lions in 2017, starting twice. He has been on the Giants practice squad since Sept. 13.Koehn was with the Giants from Jan. 1 until his release on Sept. 1. He has played in one NFL game, for Cincinnati at Jacksonville on Nov. 5. He made his only extra point attempt, and had one touchback on two kickoffs. With the New York Giants back to work today, here are a couple of quick thoughts about the second half of the season.Moving on from Eli Whether you still believe Eli Manning can play at a functional level or not, it is apparent that at some point soon the Giants have to begin the process of moving on. The San Francisco 49ers, the Giants’ opponent next week on Monday Night Football, provide an example of why. The 49ers, like the Giants, are a bad football team. They are 2-7 with no hope of making the playoffs. Yet Deandre Baker Buffalo Bills Jersey , there seems to be optimism around the 49ers. Part of that might be because the long-term future with Jimmy Garappolo, currently out for the season, is brighter. Part because of what Nick Mullens did last Thursday in his NFL debut, leading a 34-2 rout of the Oakland Raiders. Pat might be because it’s obvious the 49ers seem to have a path and a plan for a better future. That, honestly, is the best argument for moving on from Manning. The air around the Giants is stale. The narratives are all negative. They are about the mistakes of the past. The mistakes of the present. We keep having the same conversations over and over.No one knows if rookie Kyle Lauletta is the long-term answer. He might be the next Nathan Peterman, the hapless Buffalo Bills second-year quarterback. He might, in a best-case scenario, be Case Keenum. He’s probably not the future. I wrote when the season began that if the 2018 Giants weren’t good, if they didn’t make the playoffs, they really couldn’t go forward with Manning beyond this year. That, sadly and obviously, is where things are.The Giants have to start pointing to the future. Getting Lauletta some snaps eventually is the beginning of that future. His presence in the lineup Infant Daniel Jones Jersey , whenever it happens, at least changes the conversation. It freshens the air. Right now, this going nowhere Giants organization needs that.A word about the Nate Solder signingBoth Dan and Chris were critical on Monday of the Giants’ free-agent signing of left tackle Nate Solder [Dan here | Chris here]. I have said this a number of times, but what choice did the Giants really have other than keeping Ereck Flowers at left tackle? I’m sure that would have gone over well with the fan base.Solder was an overpay at $62 million ($34.8 million guaranteed) for four years. That much was obvious the second the news Solder would be a Giant was reported. If you think the Giants don’t know they are overpaying for Solder, then you just don’t understand the business of free agency. When you have no real choice but to dip into the market and play in the deep end of the pool, you pay premium — often exorbitant — prices. That is what happened here.Odds are, if Solder wasn’t playing left tackle for the Giants then Flowers still would be. The Giants needed to make sure that didn’t happen. The Giants’ other options in the free agent market? Donald Stephenson, Sam Young, Chris Clark, Greg Robinson. Want any of those guys? Didn’t think so.In the draft, maybe they could have taken Brian O’Neill, who went 62nd to the Vikings and is now starting, in Round 2. Is anyone complaining about Will Hernandez Daniel Jones Jersey Draft , though? In Round 3, they could have taken Orlando Brown to play right tackle, but would have had to pass on B.J. Hill. Again, who’s complaining?Dan offered the idea of trading for Trent Brown. In retrospect, nice idea. Other than the New England Patriots, though, I doubt many teams believed Brown could be a top-tier left tackle. Credit the Patriots for that one. It’s why they are what they are.I guess my point is this. I know what Solder is. I’ve said many times he’s probably a B or B+ player with an A+ contract. I just don’t know what else anyone wanted the Giants to do, aside from stick with the status quo.Get out and vote todayWe are not going to have a political discussion, but I need to remind you that if you haven’t voted today please get out and do that.
